“We are stubborn on vision. We are flexible on details…Amazon.com strives to be the e-commerce destination where consumers can find and discover anything they want to buy online.” – Jeff Bezos Jeff Bezos, founder of the Internet e-commerce giant Amazon, is our role model for vision. Bezos claims he left his “well-paying job” at a New York City hedge fund to when he “learned about the rapid growth in Internet use” in the United States. He saw this as a major opportunity for people to have easier access to products (initially books) and pay less because they did not have to pay taxes on online purchases. He launched Amazon.com in 1994 after making the cross-country drive from New York to Seattle, writing up the Amazon business plan on the way. Like other budding entrepreneurs, he initially launched his vision from his garage. By 2014, Amazon had become the world’s largest on-line retailer.
